I've never been someone who writes regularly, so to maintain a blog like this does not come naturally.
Life has been quite busy for me lately. Sometimes I like it, to hop from one place and/or person to another. I love being in the moment of these fast fleeting times, but I noticed that I don't stop to enjoy the less-than-exciting mandatory errands like cleaning the bathtub, mailing insurance checks, doing laundry, picking up food from the market.
Which brings me to a few hours ago. I was in the check out line at the 99 Cent Store and decided to be present for a task that is typically mindless. The older gentleman in front of me didn't have a basket or any items in his hands. When it was his turn to interact with the cashier he pulled out of his pockets 3 bottles of [what I found out later to be] personal lubricant. He was 4 cents short and argued why he couldn't just take the third bottle. He kind of made a scene which was weird because he was being so discreet previously. He grumbled under his breath without the third bottle and stomped out of the store.
So, maybe mundane moments are also special. Had I not been present I wouldn't be able to appreciate this.
After he left, the cashier seemed unfazed by the whole thing. Her interactions with me were equally robotic which makes me ponder her zombie-esque existence at work. How often are we all in "zombie robot mode" that we can't even relish in the small quirky moments that fill our days?
I learned that despite the hustle-bustle of my recent life, that I need to stay awake all the time in case I miss something amazing.
